Overview
This is the first cultural family project that supports reading as a civilizational family project, by encouraging family members to adopt reading as a lifestyle to contribute to the dedication of knowledge for the enhancement of communication and dialogue amongst family members, to protect generations from invasive ideas, to build critical thinking skills, and to enhance family awareness of the importance of reading as a means for the formation of a proper human personality.
This project is being adopted by FDF after the review of the findings of the study about the social problems that have been observed at Jebel Hafeet Area through the Family Dialogue Forum 2022, which discussed the challenges of the society under the slogan “With you, we create an aware family and a coherent society", held at Jebel Hafeet Communal Headquarters in the city of Al Ain. The most prominent issues that have been observed are:
1) Intentional and unintentional family violence and negligence.
2) The misuse of modern technologies.
3) The unavailability of quality time for family members.
The project aims to increase awareness amongst the family and the society of social problems, most importantly, handling the issues that have been observed by reading and review in the fields of such issues and the discussion of the same, and offering innovative and creative solutions that would contribute to their resolution with the participation of the families taking part in the project, and encouraging them to provide an atmosphere that enhances the concept of reading and knowledge exchange on a sustainable basis within the family system, and to also invest the time of the family and increase quality time amongst family members through the activity of reading and the diversity of the topics and approaches of dialogue between various categories within the family and the society in what would contribute to the development of the intellectual skills of family members, the enhancement of the Arabic language of the generations, and the preservation of the national identity.
Main Objectives:
1. To encourage family members to read and to make reading a lifestyle and a daily behavior.
2. To provide an interactive atmosphere amongst family members, that enhances the concept of reading and knowledge exchange in a sustainable manner.
3. To invest quality time amongst family members and to enhance family dialogue and communication by reading.
4. To contribute to the enhancement of the Arabic language of the generations and the preservation of the national identity.
5. To engage the family in the discussion of social issues and the offering of suggested solutions.
Targeted Audience:
All family members (father, mother, children, grandfather, grandmother).
