Under the generous auspices of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, FDF chairperson, Dalma Festival 2008 was launched under the slogan "Our Days are Different in Flourishing Dalma" started from 26/11/2008 to 2/12/2008 in commemoration of the 37th National Day anniversary. The festival is a social, health, heritage, professional and recreational gathering that included multiple activities and events. The festival was launched on Wednesday 26/11//2008 at 5:00 pm at the theater where the opening ceremony was held and several events took place. 


Opening Schedule:


  • The national anthem was played by Abu Dhabi Police musical band,
  • The word of FDF delivered by His Excellency Ali Salim Al-Kaabi,
  • Folkloric Khaleeji dance performed by a group of Dalma Primary School and Al-Mashael Kindergarten students,
  • A poem titled Um Al-Emarat (Mother of UAE) delivered by student Elham Al-Marzuki from Umayma bint Abdul Muttalib School,
  • A poem delivered by the poet Raad Al-Shalal At the occasion of the National Day,
  • Folklore arts by Harbia band,
  • Honoring institutions and individuals participating in the festival by the chairman of the Board of Trustees,
  • A tour through the activities of the exhibition by the chairman of the Board of Trustees and the guests.

Thursday, 27/11/2008

  • Launching a campaign for shore cleaning organized by Al-Mashael Kindergarten in cooperation with the participation of the children mothers on the sea shore,
  • An introductory lecture by Khalifa Fund organized by the Functional Direction Division,
  • A lecture on breast cancer

Saturday, 29/11/2008

  • Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority organized a lecture titled "Food and Health" at FDF theatre from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm,
  • The free painting room,
  • Al-Multaka Company organized a trade fair titled "For Free Trade and Customized Products",
  • Games company, Master Park, provided games for children,
  • The general leadership of Abu Dhabi Police organized competitions and awareness-raising programs on traffic,
  • Schools and other competent authorities in Dalma Island organized many heritage events at the FDF yard,
  • A group of young people in Dalma Island prepared a rest house for the youth at the FDF yard,
  • Dalma Police Station prepared signs to guide the audience and dressed children in military uniform,
  • Abu Dhabi Municipality organized a lecture at FDF theatre from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.

Sunday, 30/11/2008

  • A workshop titled "Tell me What You Buy, I Tell Who You are" organized by Engineer Emad Saad,
  • A workshop titled "Healthy Food",
  • A lecture on how to get ready for exam by Dr. Mustafa Abu Saad,
  • Family consultations,
  • A ceremony on the Student Union Day of Al-Mashael Kindergarten,
  • Evaluation of the prettiest folklore dress competition.

Monday, 1/12/2008

  • Abu Dhabi job seminar,
  • Lecture of Environment Authority at FDF theatre delivered by Dr. Shadha,
  • Conducting a march in the streets of the island,
  • A ceremony of the Union Day of Al-Diyar School,
  • Making the largest greeting card for the Mother of UAE at Childhood Gathering building,
  • A workshop on happy marital life,
  • The competition of the bets cake representing the Union Day at FDF yard made by the general leadership of the Police.
